Wanda Kay Sorah
Big Stone Gap, VA - Wanda Kay Sorah, 76, passed away on Friday, December 31, 2021, at Norton Community Hospital.
She lived most of her life in Big Stone Gap and had resided in Wise, VA for over a year. She was a retired Administrative Assistant from the Big Stone Gap Housing Authority, having retired after many years of service at Westmoreland Coal Company. She loved cooking, visiting and singing with her family, and most especially spending time with her beloved grandson Brennan. Wanda was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church in Big Stone Gap.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Wayne “Don” Sorah, Sr.; her parents, Robert Vincent and Mary Sue (Register) Dickenson; brothers, Charles Dickenson, Robert Dickenson and Tom Dickenson; and brother-in-law Herbert Stacy.
Surviving are her son, Donald Wayne “Donnie” Sorah, Jr. and wife, Kelly, Wise, VA; grandson, Brennan; siblings, Jerry Dickenson, Gainesville, FL, Debbie Dickenson and Sarah Reynolds (Brian), Dryden, VA, Etta Pleasant (Kenny), Pam Stacy and Mike Dickenson (Holly), all of Big Stone Gap; sisters-in-law Dee Dickenson and Pat Dickenson; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Thursday, January 6, 2022 at Gilliam Funeral Home, 618 Wood Ave., W., Big Stone Gap. The service will follow at 7:00 pm with Pastor Alan Collier officiating.
