Alice R. Dickenson

Big Stone Gap, Va.-Alice R. Dickenson, 79, passed away on Thursday, October 13, 2022, at Orchard View Post-Acute Rehabilitation Center in Kingsport, Tn.
She was born in Scott County, Va. and lived most of her life in the Cracker’s Neck Community. She attended Cedar Ridge Freewill Baptist Church. She loved to cook and sing for Jesus.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward S. Dickenson; a daughter, Laura Ann Marsh; grandson, Matthew Dickenson; siblings, Bud Begley, Cossie Begley, Lawrence Begley, Ted Begley, Ochia Chandler, Bonnie Chandler, Opal Durham and Edith Chandler.
Surviving are her children, David Dickenson (Jeannie), Big Stone Gap, John Dickenson (Linda), Appalachia, Va., Dewey “Duke” Dickenson (Linda), Big Stone Gap, Margaret “Cricket” Bolling (Mike), Cullman, Ala. and Danny Dickenson (Rebecca), Big Stone Gap; thirteen grandchildren and several great grandchildren; siblings, W. C. Begley (Doris) and Dorothy Hicks (Jessee), both of Fort Blackmore, Va.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00pm Sunday, Oct. 16, 2022, at the Barker Cemetery, Shady Lane, in the Crackers Neck Community with Bro. Joseph Sturgill officiating. The family will meet at Gilliam Funeral Home by 12:20pm Sunday to go in procession.
The family will serve as pallbearers.
