Anna Louise Hopkins

Newport News, Va./Big Stone Gap, Va.-Anna Louise Hopkins, 85, passed away on Friday, August 2, 2024, at her home in Newport News, Va., with her husband by her side.
She was born in Big Stone Gap, Va. and had lived in Newport News since 1963. She worked as a cashier for the former Kings Department Store in Newport News, until their closure. She was a dedicated wife. She attended Harbor Baptist Church in Hampton, Va.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Reuben and Pauline (Hall) Ford; and siblings, Peggy McConnell, Roger Ford, Ruby Sheppard and Marlene Coomer.
Surviving are her loving husband, James C. Hopkins; brother, Walter “Tom” Ford (Debbie), Duffield, Va.; two sisters, Robin Elaine Ford and Darlene Norris, both of Big Stone Gap; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends 5:00pm – 7:00pm Thursday, August 8, 2024, at Gilliam Funeral Home, 618 Wood Avenue, W., Big Stone Gap. The service will follow at 7:00pm with Rev. Bud Kilbourne and Rev. Eddie Kilbourne officiating.
Graveside services will be held 10:00am Friday, August 9, 2024, at Powell Valley Memorial Gardens. The family and friends will meet at the funeral home by 9:20am Friday to go in procession to the cemetery.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
