Annetta Gibson

Norton, Va - Annetta Gibson, 59, passed away September 25, 2024 at her home.
Annetta was a lifelong resident of Norton and attended Lindsey Wilson College. She enjoyed her job at Family Crisis Support Services, where she was a fierce advocate for sexual assault and domestic violence victims, for 13 years. She loved reading and crafting. She was a Christian.
Annetta was preceded in death by her parents, Curtis and Anna Sue (Thacker) Greene; her sister, Denise Greene and son, Jerimiah Duane Gibson.
Annetta is survived by her husband of 12 years, Billy Gibson of Norton Va.; children, Chris Barnette (Amber) of Norton, Va., Brian Gibson (Dawn) of Gray, Tn., and Courtney Watson (Josh) of King, NC; her brother, Tim Greene (Brenda) of Norton, Va.; her sister, Kathy Franklin (Ben) of Wise, Va.; her grandchildren, Bryson Roberson (Makayla), Jacson Barnette, Parker Watson, Tanner Watson, Richard Watson and several nephews. Special thanks to our nurses, Kristen Brewer, Amy Scribner, Shannon Perry, Claudia Mullins and Matthew Sutherland; the staff of Hospice and Palliative Care of Virginia, including Tabitha Meadows and Barb Mosier; the ALS Clinic at Wake Forest University, Winston Salem, NC and her primary care physician Christy Swinney.
The family will receive friends on September 28, 2024 from 1:00-3:00pm at New Hope Assembly Church, 1405 1st Ave E, Big Stone Gap, VA. The funeral service will begin at 3:00pm with Rev. Roger Barker officiating.
Graveside services will follow at White Oak Cemetery, Norton, VA. Family members and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Memorial contributions may be made to ALS.org, an organization near and dear to Annetta’s heart.
