Blackwater, Va.-Arneda Mae Osborne, 83, passed away on Thursday, May 9, 2024, at Holston Valley Medical Center.
She was a lifelong resident of Blackwater, Va. Arneda was a factory worker with Don Kenney in Dryden, Va. and Norris Industries in Duffield, Va. She was an Avon salesperson for years and enjoyed the friendships with her clients. She cleaned houses in the Jonesville, Va. area for several years. She was a home health aide with Helping Hands in the Tri-Cities area, and also worked for Mountain Empire Older Citizens. She loved sewing new clothes for her daughters and also sewing outfits for their Barbie dolls. She and her husband raised tobacco for many years. Arneda enjoyed yardwork, especially attending to her flowers. She loved storytelling. Holidays would find Arneda making candy, especially her family favorite peanut butter rolls and fudge. Her banana pudding was also a family favorite. She attended Flag Pond Church in Blackwater.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Osborne; son, Dale Osborne; and her parents, Thelma and Curtis Barnette.
Surviving are her daughters, Evelyn Osborne, Danville, Ky. and Joyce Chatham, Richmond, Va.; son, Shawn Osborne (Lisa), Blackwater, Va.; grandchildren, Julie Osborne, Amanda Mullins, John Osborne, Dale “Dale, Jr.” Osborne, Jr., Matthew Chatham, Michelle Chatham, Shane Osborne and Shawna Osborne; ten great grandchildren; sisters, Patricia Gaye Barnette, Blackwater, Va. and Ruth Rhoton, Hendersonville, Tn.; brother, Dwain Barnette (Nettie), Blackwater, Va.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Celebration of Life will be held 11:00am on Saturday, May 25, 2024, at the Flag Pond Cemetery, A. J. Osborne Hwy., Blackwater, Va., with Brother T. J. Hood officiating. A gathering for family and friends will follow at the Flag Pond Community Church.
