Big Stone Gap, VA-Bernice Lawson Pearcy, 83, passed away on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, at Heritage Hall Healthcare in Wise, VA.
She was a lifelong resident of the Big Stone Gap, VA area. She was a waitress and deli worker most of her life, having worked in Kingsport, TN and most recently at Food City in Big Stone Gap. You knew where you stood with “Bern,” as she was affectionately known. She was dedicated to her family and was a loving daughter, sister and aunt. She was of the Baptist faith.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Pearcy; parents, Kelly and Evie Dell (Yose) Lawson; and siblings, Leona Lawson, Lois Lawson, Alva Lawson, Charles Lawson, Danny Lawson and Janice Blanken.
Surviving are her brother-in-law, Allen Blanken; special friends, Gary and Deborah Flanary; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be conducted at 1:00pm on Monday, August 10, 2026 at the Powell Valley Memorial Gardens Mausoleum in Big Stone Gap with Lowell “Cotton” Gardner officiating.
