Coeburn, VA – Betty Johnson, 70 passed away Thursday, February 12, 2026, in Big Stone Gap. She was the daughter of the late Clarence “Bud” Willis and Charlcie Mae Funk Willis. She was preceded in death by her husband Lloyd Leland “Nick” Johnson, son Jason Johnson, brother Clarence Ray Willis, and sisters Peggy Sue Williams and Christine Turner.
She is survived by sister Bonnie Ann Chidester, daughter Melissa Vandiver Tarpley and husband Jay, and son Joe Vandiver and partner Trina Ritchie; seven grandchildren, Logan Belcher & wife Charlotte, Lea Belcher, Stephanie & Breanna Vandiver, Riley, Parker and Lucas Johnson and two great-grandchildren Xavier and Samuel Vandiver.
Betty was a Christian of the Protestant faith. Betty found joy in the artistry of cake decorating and the companionship of her beloved cats and dogs. She will be laid to rest in a private family cemetery.
