East Stone Gap, VA – Betty June Gilly, 81, passed away on Saturday, July 26, 2025 at Johnston Memorial Hospital, Abingdon, VA. A lifelong resident of East Stone Gap, VA, she was born to Grover and Ida (Rhoten) Lawson. She worked for Stanley Botts Law Office. Betty loved to needlepoint, cross stitching and always enjoyed working in her flower garden. She attended may area churches and was a firm believer.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Gilbert Gilly; son, Dwight Gilly; her parents and brothers Vernon Lawson and Ronald Lawson.
Betty is survived by her children, Duane Gilly of East Stone Gap and Derek Gilly (Amanda) of Piney Flats, TN; sister, Thelma Lester of Gray, TN; one granddaughter, who was Betty’s caretaker and best friend, Shannon Gilly, and great grandchildren, Khloe Smith and Kaylee Smith.
