Holmes Mill, Ky.-Betty Sue Smith, 76, passed away on Tuesday, July 25, 2023, at Johnson City (Tn.) Medical Center.
She lived most of her life in Holmes Mill, Ky. She loved cooking and caring for her family. She was a member of Emmaus Baptist Church in Kingsport, Tn.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Alto and Nadine (Barker) Blair; brother, Alfonso Blair; and her mother and father-in-law, Howard and Myrtle Smith.
Surviving are her husband of 55 years, Stanley Smith; daughter, Donna Smith, Cumberland Gap, Ky.; son, Bruce Smith, Holmes Mill, Ky.; granddaughter and Betty’s pride and joy, Madison Collett; brothers, Jerry Blair, Holmes Mill, Ky., Johnny Blair (Carolyn), Central City, Ky. and Roy Blair (Amanda), Rose Hill, Va.; numerous nieces and nephews; and her special friend, Gaynell Maggard (Bob), Keokee, Va.
The family will receive friends 5:00pm – 7:00pm Thursday, July 27, 2023, at Gilliam Funeral Home, 618 Wood Ave., W., Big Stone Gap, Va. The funeral service will follow at 7:00pm with Dr. Phil Kidd and Rev. Mike Blair officiating.
Committal entombment service will be held at 11:00am Friday at the Lee Memorial Gardens Mausoleum in Pennington Gap, Va. Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home by 10:15am on Friday to go in procession to the cemetery.
