Bobby Ray "Carbide" Elliott
Big Stone Gap, Va.- Bobby Ray “Carbide” Elliott, 77, passed away on March 6, 2026 at his home.
Born in Derby, Va., he lived a majority of his life in Appalachia, Va. and Big Stone Gap, Va. He was a sawer for the former sawmill in the Blackwood community of Wise County, Va. Bobby loved weightlifting, motorcycles, hiking, and was a general handyman. He was a loving husband, father, son, and sibling. He was a Christian.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Carson and Rose (Polly) Elliott; siblings, Charles, Doris, Loretta, Margie, and four other sister’s; special cousin, Mike Powell and his wife Pie; and special friend, Mark Bobrosky.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Shella Elliott of the home; son, Bobby Ray Elliott, Jr. of Big Stone Gap; numerous nieces and nephews; special brother-in-law, Hubert “Bud” Summers; “adopted” granddaughter in spirit, Kendra Garrett; and special friend, Sarah Bobrosky.
Bobby requested cremation and no formal services be held.
