Carl Bowen Sr
Carl E Lee Bowen Sr., 77, of Appalachia, VA went to be with his Lord in the early morning hours of Tuesday May 28th, 2024.
Carl was a member of the Appalachia Pentecostal Church of Appalachia, VA. He served his country proudly as a member of the US Army in Korea.
Carl was born in Pardee, Virginia to Samuel and Lila Bowen. He spent several years in Indiana but lived most of his life in Appalachia, Virginia. He loved hunting, fishing & painting but most of all his family and Jesus Christ. Carl was preceded in death by his parents Samuel and Lila Bowen and wife of 57 years Judy Bowen.
He is survived by one son Carl Bowen Jr. (wife Vanessa) of Richmond Indiana and three daughters Lisa Sneed (husband James) of Big Stone Gap Virginia; Amy Bates (husband John) of Appalachia Virginia and Jessica Daniel (husband Brett) of Rogersville Tennessee. Carl is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and several brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews.
Loved ones will gather for a celebration of life Friday May 31st at 6pm at the Appalachia Pentecostal Church (340 Oak St. Appalachia, VA 24216) Service will be officiated by Pastor Grayson Cothron and Reverend Brett Daniel. Military Rites, by local VFW and DAV posts and the Virginia National Guard Honors Team, will be accorded prior to the funeral service.
Carl’s family would like to extend sincere thanks to all those who have shown such love during this time.
