Carolyn Sue Maggard Ketchersid

BIG STONE GAP, VA – Carolyn Sue Maggard Ketchersid, 73, went home to be with the Lord, Monday, January 22, 2024 at her home after a lengthy illness.
Carolyn was born January 23, 1950 in Cumberland, Ky. to the late Charlie and Majil Maggard. She was raised in Big Stone Gap and graduated from Powell Valley High School. Carolyn worked for Westmoreland Coal Company for 15 years before opening her own business in the “Pink House” on Wood Avenue in Big Stone Gap. She first offered salon services including hair and nails, women’s clothing and accessories. She then opened Fritzi’s Tea Room where she offered gourmet lunches.
A mighty woman of God, Carolyn was a member of New Hope Assembly of God in Big Stone Gap.
In addition to her parents, sister, Lois preceded her in death.
Carolyn is survived by her husband of 33 years, Dallas Ketchersid; her son, Darren Caruso; four grandchildren, Alex, Chelsea, Ezekiel and Zion Caruso; brother, Alan Maggard and wife Sandra; and several nieces, nephews and extended family.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 25, 2024 from 12:00 noon to 2:00 p.m. at New Hope Assembly of God, 1405 First Ave E., Big Stone Gap, Va. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Rick Whitten officiating.
Burial will follow at American Legion Cemetery.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
