Christopher "Chris" Rose

Norton, Va.-William Christopher “Chris” Rose, 56, passed away on Wednesday, November 29, 2023, at Norton Community Hospital.
Born in Norton, Va., raised in Big Stone Gap, Va., a 1985 graduate of Powell Valley High School, he had lived in Norton since 2014. He taught music at MECC and UVA-Wise and had started his teaching career at the Millard Edwards Music Store in Coeburn, Va. and Juste Music in Norton. Chris played with the band, “Major Change” and the praise band, “Souls Journey.” Chris could be found playing the guitar with anybody, anytime, anywhere he was asked. His love of music was surpassed by his love for his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, family, students and anybody he ever met. He attended Glamorgan Chapel in Wise, Va., where he was a member of the praise and worship team.
He was preceded in death by his father, William E. “Bill” Rose; and his maternal grandmother, “Granny” Ada McCarroll.
Surviving are his mother Carrie Wells and her husband, Lee Roy, Duffield, Va.; his son, Ryan Christopher Rose, Gate City, Va.; the love of his life, Eliza Evans, Coeburn, Va.; step sister, Melissa Lynn Wells, Kingsport, Tn.; half-brother, Nathan Rose of Tennessee; two cousins, Monique Dennison and Ray Mabe; and a host of other family.
The family will receive friends from 11:00am to 1:00pm Monday, December 4, 2023, at Glamorgan Chapel, 183 Southmark Road, Wise, Va. The funeral service will follow with Pastor Greg Sergent and Pastor Jeff Sams officiating.
Burial will follow in Glencoe Cemetery, Big Stone Gap, Va.
Pallbearers will be members of the Glamorgan Chapel.
