Bulls Gap, Tn.-Christopher Edward Sloan, 46, passed away on Thursday, July 6, 2023, at his home.
He was a 1995 graduate of Appalachia High School and attended Mountain Empire Community College. Chris was a former coal miner and a carpenter, having worked with his father and in the Bulls Gap/Rogersville area. He loved working on cars and trucks. Chris was a Christian.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Enoch “Monk” and Ollie “Gig” (Chandler) Sloan; maternal grandparents, Jackie Wayne “Jack” and Margaret June Clendenon; and uncle, Jackie Ray “Jack” Sloan.
Surviving are his father, James “Eddie” Sloan and wife Cathy, Jonesville, Va. and mother, Micki Jane Castle, Concord, NC; sister, April Sloan (Bryan) Sorrentino, Concord, NC; nieces, Olivia McKinley Sorrentino and Sloan Addison Sorrentino; and a host of aunts, uncles and cousins
A graveside service will be conducted at 1:00pm Friday, July 14, 2023, at American Legion Cemetery with Owen Powers officiating. Family and friends will meet at the cemetery by 12:50pm.
