East Stone Gap, VA-Clara Elkins, 92, passed away on Thursday, April 9, 2026, at Norton Community Hospital.
She was born in Wise, Va. and had lived a majority of her life in Big Stone Gap, VA and East Stone Gap, VA.
She dedicated her life to her husband, son and her family. She loved playing Rook with family and friends, and enjoyed quilting, leaving many of her creations for her family. She was a good Christian woman and was a member of the former Ayers Chapel Church in Big Stone Gap.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Jimmie Ray Elkins; her parents, Charlie and Leanza (Mullins) Webb; and siblings, Howard Webb, Dorothy Hibbits, Hillard Webb, Homer Webb, Herb Webb and Hargas Webb.
Surviving are her son, Scotty Elkins, Bristol, TN; grandchildren, Katlyn Elkins, Miami, FL and Zachary Pendleton (Angelica), East Stone Gap, VA; great grandchildren, Damian Pendleton, Cassandra Pendleton and Renee Elkins; niece, Jean Collins, Wise, VA; nephew, Jerry Hibbits, Big Stone Gap, VA; and several other nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends 5:00pm – 7:00pm Monday, April 13, 2026, at Gilliam Funeral Home, 618 Wood Ave., W., Big Stone Gap, VA. The service will follow at 7:00pm with Lowell “Cotton” Gardner officiating.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00am Tuesday, April 14, 2026, at Powell Valley Memorial Gardens. The family and friends will meet at the funeral home by 10:20am Tuesday to go in procession to the cemetery.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
