Appalachia, Va.-Darrell Ray Barker, 76, passed away on Friday, September 30, 2022, at Norton Community Hospital.
When able he attended the Appalachia United Methodist Church. He loved watching football and baseball games. Darrell especially loved listening to music, playing his guitar, and reading. He had a collection of John Fox, Jr. books.
He was preceded in death by an infant son, Ricky Allen; his parents, Carl and Delphia (Clark) Barker; one brother, Robert Barker; one niece, Debbie Barker; brother-in-law, Ronnie Richardson; and Don Jack Mullins.
Surviving are his children, Darrell Ray Barker, Jr. (Dawn), McDonald, Tn. and Kimberly Barker Tompkins Goforth (Ronald); Maryville, Tn.; grandchildren, Jessica, Joshua, Jimmie, Darrah, Drake; one great grandson, Wyatt; sisters, Brenda Smith (Roy) and Rita Richardson, both of Big Stone Gap and Cathy Barker, Bluff City, Tn.; brothers, Carlos Barker (Debbie), Big Stone Gap and Daniel Barker (Rita), Richmond, Va.; several nieces and nephews and cousins.
The family will receive friends 5:00pm – 7:00pm on Monday, Oct. 3, 2022, at Gilliam Funeral Home, 618 Wood Ave, W., Big Stone Gap. The service will follow at 7:00pm with Greg Townsend, Minister, officiating.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00am Tuesday at Powell Valley Memorial Gardens. The family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home by 10:20am to go in procession to the cemetery.
