Duffield, Va.-Darrell Ray Ford, 54, passed away on Monday, June 23, 2025.
He was born in Norton, Va,. grew up in Big Stone Gap, VA and lived most of his life in Duffield, VA. He proudly served in the U.S. Air Force. He was a former coal miner. Darrell loved watching football and tinkering with cars.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents James and Margie (Anderson) Hall; Paternal Grandparents Reuben and Pauline (Hall) Ford.
Surviving are his parents, Tom and Debbie (Hall) Ford of Duffield, Va.; son, Hunter Ray Mitchell Ford, Blountville, TN.; sister, Melissa Ann “Missy” Craft and husband Chris of Duffield, Va.; nephew Cody Craft (Shelby); two great nephews, Leighton Craft and Sutton Craft; two aunts, Robin Ford and Darlene Norris; and several cousins.
The family would like to thank Dr. Shiff and his staff at UVA Medical Center in Charlottesville, Va. for their care.
The family will receive visitors on Tuesday, July 1 from 11:00am to 1:00pm at Gilliam Funeral Home, 618 Wood Ave. W., Big Stone Gap, VA. The funeral service will begin at 1:00pm with Rev. Bud Kilbourne and Rev. Eddie Kilbourne officiating.
Burial will follow at Powell Valley Memorial Gardens, 5650 Powell Valley Road, Big Stone Gap. Military rites will be accorded by the Shaw Air Force Honors Team and local DAV and VFW posts. Friends and Family will serve as pallbearers.
