Dryden, VA – Debra Ann Dickenson, 70, passed away on Monday, September 29, 2025 at Fort Sanders Medical Center, Knoxville, TN.
Born and raised in Big Stone Gap, VA, she had lived in Dryden, VA for the past 30 years. She was a 1973 graduate of Powell Valley High School. She spent most of her career working at Lonesome Pine Hospital in Big Stone Gap. She loved bowling and softball. Deb didn’t have children of her own, but she cherished others and was like a second mother to many. She was a Christian.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Bob and Mary Sue (Register) Dickenson; siblings, Wanda Sorah, Charles Dickenson, Tom Dickenson and Rob Dickenson; niece, Marcie Dickenson and brothers-in-law, Don Sorah and Herbert Stacy.
Deb is survived by her siblings, Etta Pleasant (Kenny) of Big Stone Gap, VA, Pam Stacy of Big Stone Gap, VA, Sarah Reynolds (Brian) of Dryden, VA, Michael Dickenson (Holly) of Big Stone Gap, VA and Jerry Dickenson of Virginia; numerous nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law, Dee Dickenson and Pat Dickenson and a host of friends.
The family will receive friends on Friday, October 3, 2025 from 5:00-7:00pm at Heritage Church of God, Big Stone Gap, VA. The funeral service will begin at 7:00pm with Rev. Alan Collier and Pastor Tom Williams ministering.
Final arrangements will be private.
