Big Stone Gap, Va.-Donald W. Smith, 71, passed away on Wednesday, August 12, 2020, at Lonesome Pine Hospital.
He was born in Gate City, Va., lived in Florida for six years and had lived in Virginia most of his life. He was an over-the road truck driver for Don Gray Trucking for several years. He was a U. S. Army Veteran of Vietnam.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Elsie (Gibson) Smith; and a brother, Harold Smith.
Surviving are five children, Donna Mellon (Jerry Sargent), Appalachia, Va., Terry Smith (Samantha), Savannah, Ga., Chris Smith (Chada), Dalton, Ga., Amy Michelle Sampson (Johnny), Norton, Va. and Justin Mayes (Jasmine), Duffield, Va.; ten grandchildren and two great grandchildren; brothers and sisters, L. J. Smith (Judy), Shelby, NC, Faye Kerns, Duffield, Va., Phyllis Smith McClellan and Sheila Cole (George), Gate City, Va. and David Smith (Shawna), Kingsport, Tn.; and several nieces and nephews.
