Donald Wayne Sorh
Big Stone Gap, VA - Donald Wayne Sorah, Sr., 79, passed away on Tuesday, June 2, 2020 at the Ballad Hospice House in Bristol, TN.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Conley and Grace Beatrice (Burton) Sorah; and brothers James Sorah and Kenneth Sorah
Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Wanda Sorah; son, Donald Sorah, Jr. (Kelly), and grandson, Brennan Scott Sorah; and sisters, Thelma Gilley, Georgia Durham, Nancy Gilliam, and Shirley Walborn.
His life will be forever cherished by additional family members including Debbie Dickenson, Etta Pleasant (Kenny), Pamela Stacy, Sarah Reynolds (Brian), Michael Dickenson (Holly), Dee Dickenson, Pat Dickenson, and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
He worked more than twenty years for Leo’s Pest Control where he traveled throughout Southwest Virginia and seemed to know everyone he saw. After retiring from his work at Leo’s, he spent several years as project director at the Pioneer Center in Duffield, Virginia.
He proudly served in the United States Air Force at Clinton-Sherman Air Force Base (OK) during the Vietnam War era.
He was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church where he loved serving as greeter and doorman. He loved fishing, woodcarving, and spending time with family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday, June 6 at Gilliam Funeral Home (618 Wood Ave., W.) in Big Stone Gap with Pastor Alan Collier officiating. Due to current regulations, all guests are required to wear face masks.
