Douglas Albert Young
Big Stone Gap, Va.-Douglas Albert Young, 79, passed away on Sunday, May 19, 2024, at the home of his daughter in Big Stone Gap, Va.
He was born in Jamaica, NY, lived in Florida for many years and had lived in Big Stone Gap since 2012. He proudly served in the U. S. Army, having served in Vietnam and Germany as a medic. Doug was a jack of all trades, having been an ambulance driver, semi-truck driver, and a manager of a Radio Shack. He loved to treasure hunt with a metal detector. He attended Norton Church of God. Doug loved to make people laugh and smile. He loved the Lord.
Doug was preceded in death by his parents, Albert D. Young and Mildred (Gonzalez) Young; and a brother, Dennis Young.
Surviving are his wife of 22 years, Nancy Young; son, David Young (Sarly), Dacula, GA; step-daughter, Margaret Partridge; one grandson, Jacob Stalans, Big Stone Gap; two granddaughters, Karen Young and Katy Young of Georgia; two brothers, Ronald Young (Kathie) of Maricopa, AZ and Randy Young of Nevada; one sister, Amy Lane (Joel), Ocala, Fla.; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held 3:00 p.m. Saturday, May 25, 2024, at the Norton Church of God, Corner of Park Ave. and 10th Street, Norton, Va. with Pastor Adrian Dale officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00PM – 3:00 p. m., prior to the service.
