Big Stone Gap, Va.-Earl Boatright, 77, passed away on Saturday, June 26, 2021, at his home.
He was a lifelong resident of the Italy Bottom Community of Big Stone Gap. Earl worked in the coal mines during his early life and then worked for over 35 years with Piggly Wiggly and Food City in Big Stone Gap, as a meat department manager. Earl loved watching high school sports, especially when his son, Dwayne, was participating for Powell Valley High School. He loved to hunt for turkey.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Patrick E. “Pat” Boatright and Margaret (Bishop) Boatright; and a sister, Judy Bolinsky.
He is survived by his son, Dwayne Boatright; granddaughter, Ashley Boatright Brewer; great grandson, Xander Brewer; siblings, Johnny Boatright, (Betty), Chicago, Ill., Ralph Boatright, Tim Boatright and David Boatright, all of Big Stone Gap, Blaine Boatright, Middlesboro, Ky., and Emma Sue Young of North Carolina; and several nieces and nephews.
