Big Stone Gap, VA – Eddie Lee Carter, 60, passed away on Thursday, August 27, 2026 at his home. He was a lifelong resident of Big Stone Gap and East Stone Gap. He was an auto mechanic, having worked at Dotson Chevrolet, Auto World and most recently, Valley Performance. He loved hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed being a HAM radio operator, riding his four-wheeler and motorcycle, and playing the guitar. He was a loving father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle and friend to many. He was a Christian.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Glenna (Mulllins) Carter.
Eddie is survived by his fiancé and the love of his life, Victoria Chestnut; his children, Alissa Hatfield (Jason) of Big Stone Gap, VA, Amanda Hopson (Tim) of Big Stone Gap, VA, and Sierra Neeley (Don) of Appalachia, VA; siblings, Jeanne Harwood (Kevin) of Vero Beach, FL, Cathy Neeley of Big Stone Gap, VA and Trish Meredith (Wally) of Big Stone Gap, VA; grandchildren, Paityn Hatfield, Oaklee Hatfield, Katelyn Hopson, Zoey Hopson, Alexis Neeley and Brantley Chestnut, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A private Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date.
