Bristol, Tennessee-Faye Gilbert Carr, 86, passed away on Friday, June 14, 2024, at her residence.
Born in West Virginia to the late Chester Ray Gilbert and Beatrice Isom Combs, she lived in Appalachia, Va., Norton, Va., Kingsport, Tn. and Bristol, Tn. Faye was a certified nursing assistant at Norton Community Hospital and eventually worked as a billing specialist and with N. C. H. Home Health, with over 30 years of service. She loved sewing, crocheting and was always available to help care for someone in need. Faye loved her family and was proud to be the best “Nanny” ever.
In addition to her parents, Faye was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmie David Carr; siblings, Sam Gilbert, Chester Gilbert, Jr. and Bill Gilbert; and a daughter-in-law, Susan Kennedy.
Surviving are her children, Paul David Kennedy, Pound, Va., Alice Weaver (John), Kingsport, Tn., Bill Kennedy (Lisa), Fincastle, Va. and Teddy Kennedy (Lea), Pound, Va.; grandchildren, Stephanie Agee, Adam Kennedy, Gavin Kennedy, Autumn Weaver, Marty Robinson and Eddie Kennedy; great grandchildren, Kennedy Agee, Joseph Agee, Adalynn Weaver and William Agee; sister, Ann Wagner, Big Stone Gap, Va.; and several nieces and nephews.
Per Faye’s request, services will be private.
She will be laid to rest in Powell Valley Memorial Gardens, Big Stone Gap, Va.
