Gary Curtis “Curt” Richardson
Duffield, Va.-Gary Curtis “Curt” Richardson, 73, passed away on Wednesday, August 17, 2022, at his home, surrounded by his family.
Curt was raised in Toms Creek, Va. and had lived in Duffield for past several years. He proudly served in the U. S. Army, with two tours of duty in Vietnam. He was a coal loader with the A & G Coal Co. He was of Baptist faith. Curt loved hunting and fishing.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Carlie (Welch) Richardson; brother, Houston Richardson; and sisters, Sue Hatmaker, Brenda Stevens and Connie Collins.
Surviving are his wife of 26 years, Joyce Ann (Stidham) Richardson; daughter, Gwendolyn Kern and her husband, Bobby of Wise, Va.; one grandson, Derrek Harris; brother, Andy Richardson, Coeburn, Va.; sisters, Shirley McKinnerney and her husband Beryl, San Antonio, Tx. and Rhonda Miller and her husband Darrell, Mocks Corner, SC; several nieces and nephews, including special nephews, “Bubby” Richardson, Drew Sluss and Justin Ramsey; a special great nephew, Evan Sluss, who helped care for Curt during his illness; and three extra special sisters-in-law, BK, Phyllis and Kathy.
A memorial service will be conducted 1:00pm Saturday, August 27, 2022, at the residence, 208 Observation Drive, Duffield, Va. with Beryl McKinnerney officiating. A military service, by local V. F. W. and D. A. V. posts and the Va. Army National Guard Honors Team, will immediately precede the memorial service.
