Gerald (Jerry) Rose

Gerald Bradford (Jerry) Rose, Sr. of Jonesville, VA passed away on May 14th, 2026 at the age of 77.
He was preceded in death by his parents Winfield and Jessie (Sulfridge) Rose. Also, two sisters Marian Rose and Virginia Molinary; four brothers Richard, Donald, Burnette and Patrick.
Left behind to cherish and honor his memory are his wife Jo Anne; son, Brad (Mia) Rose of Coeburn, VA; two grandsons Logan Rose and Brady Rose of Coeburn, VA. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews who he considered more like brothers and sisters and a host of other relatives and his special dog Sugar Bear.
Jerry was a veteran of the United States Army serving in Vietnam during the TET Offensive. He served in the Signal Corps. He received his B.S. Degree in Forestry from the University of Montana. He was a life long entrepreneur and inventor with a curious mind and a thoughtful perspective on life. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying flyfishing, hiking and power gliding. Jerry thru-hiked the Appalachian Trail at the age of 54. He was a voracious reader and an excellent writer. Jerry was intensely private, but loved his family with his entire heart.
Per Jerry’s wishes, he will be cremated. There will be no service, but a Celebration of Life is planned for later in the year.
