Big Stone Gap, Va.-Gladys May Barker, 95, passed away early Sunday, January 31, 2021, at Heritage Hall Healthcare in Big Stone Gap.
She lived most of her life in Big Stone Gap. Gladys was one of the Jehovah Witnesses. She loved to knit and crochet.
She was preceded in death by daughters, Arlena Beason (Kenneth), and an infant daughter, Violet Barker; son, Denny Barker; parents, Patrick “Pat” Seymour and Eliza (Hammonds) Seymour; and siblings, Bessie Webster, Jim Seymour, Bill Seymour, Mary Lane, George Seymour, an infant brother and an infant sister.
Surviving are her children, Shirley Barker, Darrell Barker, Vedis Barker (Audrey), Casson Donovan,and Sharon Rollins (Jerry), all of Big Stone Gap, Darwin Barker (Carolyn), Gastonia, NC, Mary Stevenson (Spencer), Freemont, Ca., and Stephen Barker of Hawaii; 22 grandchildren and many great and great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A private graveside service will be at the American Legion Cemetery. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
A memorial service will be announced by the family at a later date.
