Big Stone Gap, Va. - Gwenda Joan Hall, 81, passed away on Wednesday, September 18, 2024 at Holston Valley Medical Center.
She was a graduate of Appalachia High School. She was a bookkeeper for the former Big Stone Gap Oil Co., a cook at the Appalachia Elementary School and a deli preparer for the former Mini-Et Market. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister. She was a member of the New Hope Assembly of God in Big Stone Gap.
Joan was preceded in death by her husband, Carroll Hall; her father, Wiley Franks; her parents, Bill Couch and Pauline “Podge” Couch, and her brother, William “Bill” Franks.
Joan is survived by her children, Earl L. Jackson, Jr. (Donna) of Big Stone Gap, Va., Brian Jackson (fiancé, Cathy DeBolt), of Big Stone Gap, Va., Angela Jackson Davidson (Chad Dickenson) of Big Stone Gap, Va., and Lisa Jackson Kelly of Big Stone Gap, Va.; her sister, Bureeda Hampton of Clayton, In.; her grandchildren, Dustin Jackson (Jeannie), Brian Jackson's children, Joseph S. Ward (Jess), Delmas Lawson, lll (Annie), Alivia Davidson, Josh Kelly (Brittany), Patrick Kelly (Amber); her great grandchildren, Carter Jackson, Chloe Jackson, Willoh Dietz, Prim Dietz, Madison Brumgard, Taylor Brumgard, Margaret Lawson, Delmas Lawson, IV, Tilly Lawson, Aidan Kelly, Ava Grace Kelly and Oliver Wayne Kelly; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, September 21, 2024 from 11:00am – 1:00pm at Gilliam Funeral Home, 618 Wood Ave., E., Big Stone Gap, Va. The funeral service will begin at 1:00pm with Pastor Robbie Fultz officiating. Kelly Fultz, Hope Lyons and Ashley Addison will minister in song.
Graveside services will follow at Glencoe Cemetery in Big Stone Gap, Va. Family members and friends will serve as pallbearers.
