Jack Herron, Sr.
Big Stone Gap, Va.-Jack Herron, Sr., 73, passed away on Friday, April 5, 2024, at Lonesome Pine Hospital.
He served his country in the U. S. Army and was a Vietnam Veteran. He worked for Westmoreland Coal Co. for ten years, Jess Akens Masonary and then the Norris Industries, Inc. He was of Methodist faith.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Helen Herron; sister, Deloris Ramsey; and brothers, Charles, Ronnie and Harold Woodward.
Surviving are his wife of 40 years, Linda Stidham Herron; son, Jack Herron, Jr., Chester, W.Va.; daughter, Kimberly Herron, East Liverpool, Ohio; his grandchildren, who he lovingly enjoyed, Howard Herron, Emily Saleh, Kimberly Beatty, and Luke Beatty; great grandchildren, Remey Beatty, Lucille Beatty, Draven Beatty and Popey Jean Saleh; sister, Mary Selig (James), Brookfield, Ill.; brothers, Eugene Herron (Fran) of Texas and Merle Woodward of Big Stone Gap, Va.; and several nieces and nephews.
A visitation for the family only will be held on Monday, April 8, 2024, at Gilliam Funeral Home, 618 Wood Ave., W. in Big Stone Gap, Va.
Burial will be private in Powell Valley Memorial Gardens, beside his mother.
