Big Stone Gap, Va.-Jessie Carroll Cantrell, 88, passed away on Tuesday, December 27, 2022, at Lonesome Pine Hospital.
She was born in Pound, Va. She was a member of First Christian Church, Big Stone Gap, the ladies’ auxiliary at Indian Creek Freewill Baptist Church, Pound, Va. and a member of the Southwest Virginia Museum in Big Stone Gap.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Eugene Cantrell; parents, Benjamin and Virgie (Cantrell) Mullins; and also, four brothers and five sisters.
Surviving are her son, Greg “Orby” Cantrell and wife, Patti; granddaughter, Alison Cantrell Fleenor; great granddaughter, Laurel Fleenor, all of Big Stone Gap; sister, Mary Collier, Norton, Va.; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 12:00pm – 1:00pm Friday, December 30, 2022, at First Christian Church, 640 Wood Avenue, E., Big Stone Gap. The service will follow at 1:00pm with Greg Townsend, Minister, officiating.
Burial will follow at Powell Valley Memorial Gardens.
The family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
