John Robert Quillin
Big Stone Gap, Va.-John Robert Quillin, 83, passed away on Saturday, August 29, 2020 at his home.
He was a retired electrician for the Old Dominion Power Co, with 35 years of service. He was a member of Big Springs Baptist Church in the Crackers Neck Community. He served in the U. S. Air Force for four years. He was an avid Powell Valley and Union High School supporter.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Benton and Mary “Sweetie” (Hood) Quillin; siblings, Willie Mae Smith, Virginia Shupe, Ruth Blakemore, Mary Helen Quillin, Jean Wofford, James Quillin and William B. Quillin.
Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Jeanette Quillin; daughter, Jennifer Garrison (Tracy), Big Stone Gap; son, Mark Quillin (Gina), Big Stone Gap; grandchildren, Trey Garrison (Amber), Tyler Garrison (Brittany), Noah Garrison, Hollie Quillin, Rachel Quillin, Breana Fielder, Landon Fielder, Kaleb Fielder and Lauren Quillin; great grandchild, Sadie Garrison; special brother-in-law, William “Inky” Shupe (Sandy), Big Stone Gap; several nieces, nephews and friends.
The family will receive friends from 6:00pm to 8:00pm Monday, Aug. 31, 2020, at Gilliam Funeral Home, 618 Wood Avenue, W., Big Stone Gap.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00am Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2020, at Glencoe Cemetery with Pastor Enos Gingrich officiating. The family and friends will meet at the funeral home by 10:30am to go in procession to the cemetery.
Pallbearers will be: Tracy Garrison, Trey Garrison, Tyler Garrison, Noah Garrison, Kaleb Fielder and Landon Fielder.
