Judy Lynn Blagg

Big Stone Gap, VA-Judy Lynn Blagg, 79, passed away on Thursday, April 16, 2026, at Lonesome Pine Hospital, following an extended illness.
She was born in Osaka, VA, and lived her whole life in Big Stone Gap . She was the Activities Director at Heritage Hall Healthcare in Big Stone Gap for 10 years. Judy loved reading, flower and vegetable gardening, working jigsaw puzzles with her husband, attending kids and grandkids sports, going to church and fellowship of God’s people. She also enjoyed watching Atlanta Braves baseball and any generic cop tv show, not even her husband could turn the channel when one was on. Judy enjoyed family cookouts where they would play badminton and throwing horseshoes. After Gran passed away, she held the cookouts, as the cook for all who came for all of the holidays. She loved playing cards with the family that would get lively at times. Judy was a wonderful Christian lady, attending Cadet Church of God (Heritage Church of God presently) and Christian Life Church, both in Big Stone Gap. Judy always enjoyed helping to lead the children in church plays and other activities. She was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to all who knew her well and to those who didn’t. She went above and beyond to show her love to her children and grandchildren.
The children of Judy Blagg would like to send their love and sincere appreciation for their father’s family, keeping in contact with Ms. Judy’s healthcare status thru the last four years, since the passing of Dennis, her husband. We love you and thank you, Kay, Carl, and Rex and Brenda.
Judy was preceded in death by her husband, Dennis Ray Blagg, Sr; her parents, James Thomas Brady and Reba Virginia (Moore) Brady; and siblings, Patricia Humbert, James K. “Bud” Brady, Paul Brady, Billy Joe Brady and Wanda Sue Adams.
Surviving are her children, Dennis Ray Blagg, Jr. (Darlene), Big Stone Gap, Dana Blagg Jackson, Kingsport, TN and Chad Thomas Blagg (Beth), Big Stone Gap; grandchildren, David Ryan Blagg, Nathaniel David Jones, Meagan MacKenzie Blagg and Isabella Ivee Blagg; siblings, Donna Brady Wolfe, Big Stone Gap, and David Allen Brady, Nashville, TN; and several nieces, nephews and extended family. She loved her family pets that always managed to stick by her, Patches (dog), Isis (cat), Cali (cat), and Babi (cat), as much as they loved her.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, April 25, 2026 from 1:00pm – 4:00pm at Gilliam Funeral Home, 618 Wood Ave, W., Big Stone Gap. Please share your memories of Judy with the family during this time.
