Margie Ann Lyke
Big Stone Gap, VA – Margie Ann Lyke, 92, passed away on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at her home. Born in Switchback, WV, she lived in Roanoke, VA where she met “Curly”, the love of her life, at a Christmas party and four months later were married. She was a longtime substitute teacher in Roanoke, VA. She moved to Big Stone Gap in 1974 and she was a teacher’s aide at Powell Valley Elementary School. She was a member of several garden and horticulture clubs in Big Stone Gap. She was devoted to her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, and was involved in all their school activities. She was their biggest fan. She was a very religious person and attended many local churches.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Calverne Lawrence “Curly” Lyke, Sr.; son, Calverne “Butch” Lyke, Jr.; son-in-law, Marion Stephen McKeeer; brother, Robert T. Bailey and sister, Shirley B. Williams.
Margie is survived by her daughter, Cynthia Lyke McKeever of Reedville, VA; grandchildren, Crystal S. Lyke of Big Stone Gap, VA, Jesse L. McKeever and wife, Veleecia of Oklahoma City, VA, Joshua Thomas Lyke of Big Stone Gap, VA, and Leannza L. Lyke and partner Augustin of Patagonia, Argentina; great grandchildren, Nailah, Jovie, Aurora Jo, Everest and Rio, and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Monday, February 16, 2026 from 5:00-7:00pm at Gilliam Funeral Home, 618 Wood Ave. W., Big Stone Gap, VA. The funeral service will begin at 7:00pm with Rev. Nathan Dugger officiating.
The graveside service will be held on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, at 2:00pm in Powell Valley Memorial Gardens, 5015 Powell Valley Road, Big Stone Gap, VA. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
