Richmond, Va.-Marie Herring Phillips, 81, passed away on Saturday, February 29, 2020, at Heritage Hall Healthcare in Big Stone Gap, Va.

      She worked for Bank of America, 17 years of service.  She was very involved in her churches, Tabernacle Baptist Church, Richmond, Va. and later Mt. Vernon Baptist Church, Glen Allen, Va.

      She was preceded in death by her husband, Nelson Samuel Phillips, Jr. on September 15, 2019.

      She is survived by three children, Cynthia Merworth, Nelson S. Phillips, III, and Robin O’Leary; ten grandchildren; one sister, Ella Edwards; and several nieces and nephews.

      Mrs. Phillips’ services were private and she was laid to rest at the Maury Cemetery, 2700 Maury Road, Richmond, Va.

      Gilliam Funeral Home and Crematory in Big Stone Gap, Va. is honored to serve Mrs. Phillips’ family.
