Duffield, Va.-Mary Sue Phillips, 78, passed away Sunday, August 27, 2023, at her home, surrounded by her family.
She was born in Stonega, Va. and lived most of her life in Wise County. She worked as a CNA/Physical Therapist at Heritage Hall Healthcare in Big Stone Gap for over 27 years. She was dedicated to her family. Mary loved making homemade candy and gardening. She attended Thee Church in Appalachia, Va.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Randall Paul Phillips; her parent, Wint and Minerva Jane (Meade) Collins; and siblings, William “TooLittle” Collins, Lorene Raby and Curtis “Buddy” Collins.
Surviving are her children, Tammy Sue Phillips, East Stone Gap, Va., Randall “Wheel” Phillips (Vicki), Jenkins, Ky., Jennifer Carroll, Appalachia, Va., Connie Pleasant, East Stone Gap, Va. and Richard “Tom” Phillips, Jasper, Va.; 13 grandchildren, Abbey Adams (Jason), Lyndsay Brooks (Kevin), Dustin Blanken, Travis Phillips (Laurissa), Tyler Phillips (Cree), Randee Phillips, Jessica Carroll, Joshua Shane Carroll, Cody Pleasant (Tiffany), Adam Pleasant (Kirsten), Brittaney Pleasant, Austin Phillips and Courtney Phillips (Landon); 30 great grandchildren; siblings, Ruby Gibson, Kaye Hughes, Ken Collins (Karen), Ronald Collins (Jan) and Bobby Joe Collins (Pam); and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5:00pm – 7:00pm Friday, September 1, 2023, at Thee Church in Appalachia, Va. The memorial service will follow at 7:00pm with Pastor Willie Barker officiating.
