Big Stone Gap, VA/ Kingsport, TN- Mattie Belle Davidson passed away on Thursday, July 17, 2025 at Holston Valley Medical Center.
Born in Norton, VA, she lived most of her life in Big Stone Gap. She had resided in Kingsport, TN for the past 10 Years. She was a former employee of the Big Stone Gap Walmart. She loved to cross stitch, work crossword puzzles, cooking and loved making and sharing candy at Christmas. She was a member of New Hope Assembly of God in Big Stone Gap.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ike and Gertude (Wells) Powers; husband, Lester R. Davidson, Sr.; children, Lydia Worley, Hope Andrews and Barbara McColm; grandson, Jeremy Davidson and brother, Bobby Powers.
Surviving are her children, Denise Jenkins of Gate City, VA, Dennis Davidson of Kingsport, TN, Gary Davidson (Tammy) of Appalachia, VA, Danny Powers (Linda) of Big Stone Gap, VA, Mike Hubbard (Becca) of Richmond, KY, Lester R. Davidson, Jr. (Judy) of Keokee, VA.; Glessie Mullins of Big Stone Gap, VA and Doris Duncan (Don) of Savannah, GA; brother, Gary Powers (Kathy) of Big Stone Gap, VA; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, July 20, 2025 from 2:00-4:00pm at New Hope Assembly of God in Big Stone Gap, Va. Funeral services will begin at 4:00pm with Pastor Rick Whitten and Billy Wayne Arrington ministering.
Graveside services will be held on Monday, July 21, 2025 at 11:00am in American Legion Cemetery, 5015 Powell Valley Road, Big Stone Gap, VA. Family and friends are asked to assemble at Gilliam Funeral Home to leave at 10:30am in procession to the cemetery.
