Big Stone Gap, VA.- Nancy Gail Hunter, 69, passed away on Sunday, June 7, 2026 at her home.
She was a lifelong resident of Big Stone Gap, VA and Appalachia, VA. She worked for Tri-city Opticians in Big Stone Gap for many years. She later owned and operated Nancy’s Kitchen in Appalachia. And lastly, worked for Dollar General in Big Stone Gap. She loved cooking, canning and gardening. She was a Christian.
Nancy was preceded in death by her husband, Billy E. Hunter; father, Harry Gollaway; mother, Leona Lewis Vaughn; siblings, Irene Gollaway, Dorothy Boyd, Linda Gollaway, Debbie Woods, Charlotte Maggard, Kay Johnson, Lelia Reinersman, Charles Gollaway, Bobby Gollaway.
Nancy is survived by a brother, Ronnie Gollaway (Estel Rollins) of Big Stone Gap, VA; numerous nieces and nephews, including a special great nephew, Nicholas Cason and his children, Sawyer and Lottie Cason.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 11, 2026, from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm at Gilliam Funeral Home, 618 Wood Ave, W., Big Stone Gap, VA. A Celebration of Life service will follow at 7:00 pm with Lowell “Cotton” Gardner officiating.
