Appalachia, Va.-Patricia Ann “Patty” Akers, 72, passed away on Thursday, July 20, 2023, at Lonesome Pine Hospital in Big Stone Gap, Va.
Born in Benham, Ky, she lived most of her life in Appalachia, Va. She was the Long-Term Care Coordinator at Heritage Hall Healthcare in Big Stone Gap, Va. for many years. She was a member of Calvary Missionary Baptist Church in Pennington Gap, Va.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard H. Morrison, II and Pauline (Martin) Morrison; and a sister, Nancy Mershon.
Surviving are her husband, Roger Akers; sister, Paulette Hillberg (Frank), Troy, Oh.; two brothers, Leonard H. “Lenny” Morrison, III, Middlesboro, Ky. and Gary Morrison (Darlene), Summersville, W.Va.; nieces, Stacy Hill and Nicole Fisher; nephews, Mark Hill and Matthew Hillberg, and Darius Akers; and two children she considered her own grandchildren and they called her “Granny,” Jacob Christian Lawson and Elijah Lucas Stapleton.
