Pearl Hazel Gilliam

Roda, Va.-Pearl Hazel Gilliam, 90, passed away on Saturday, August 30, 2025, at her home, surrounded by her family.
She was born and raised in the Stanleytown Community of Scott County, Va. She lived on Coeburn Mountain in Wise, Va. for several years. Pearl and her family moved to Roda, Va. in 1970. She was a Certified Nursing Assistant at Ridgecrest Manor Nursing Home in Duffield, Va., with 33 years of service. She loved ceramics and collecting whatnots. Most importantly she was a devoted wife, mother and daughter. She was known for helping “raise” many children in the Roda community. She was a Christian.
Pearl was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, E. M. Gilliam; sons, Lenny “Buck” Gilliam, James “Joe” Gilliam and Randy Gilliam; grandson, Wesley Gilliam; and granddaughter, Amanda “Mandi” Falin.
Surviving are her children, Larry Gilliam (Chyrel) of Hellier, Ky., Connie Falin of Big Stone Gap, Va. and Sherry Gilliam of Appalachia, Va.; several grandchildren and great grandchildren, including a granddaughter, Daja, who was a special caregiver to her mamaw; and her companion, Greg Farrington.
The family will receive friends from 5:00pm – 7:00pm Wednesday, September 3, 2025, at Gilliam Funeral Home, 618 Wood Avenue, W., Big Stone Gap, Va.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00am Thursday, September 4, 2025, in the Gilliam Funeral Home Chapel with Lowell "Cotton" Gardner, Jr. ministering.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
