Randolph "Randy" Taylor
Appalachia, VA- Randolph Scott “Randy” Taylor, 69, passed away on Saturday, September 27, 2025, at his home.
He was a lifelong resident of Appalachia, VA. He was a graduate of Appalachia High School and Clinch Valley College. He was a member of the Appalachia Bulldogs 1971 State Football Championship team. He was a coal miner with Leeman Mining Co. He was an avid Washington Redskins fan. He was a member of the Appalachia Masonic Lodge #229 and Past-Master and treasurer of the lodge. He was a member of the Appalachia Lions Club where he graciously supported the community members.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter B. and Letha Leigh (Vance) Taylor; siblings; Walter Taylor, Robert Taylor, James Taylor, Andrew Taylor and his best friend Regina Faye Gardner.
He is survived by his sons, Aaron Davidson, Bryan Davidson, Justin Davidson and Brandon Hill; siblings, Chuck Taylor, Wanda Yeary, Johnny Taylor, Jackie Bickings and Anne Scott; lifelong friend, Jimmy Filmore; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 2, 2025 from 12:00noon – 1:00pm at Gilliam Funeral Home, 618 Wood Ave, W., Big Stone Gap, VA. The service will follow at 1:00pm with Pastor Justin Davidson officiating. Just prior to the service, a Masonic Service will be conducted by the Appalachia Masonic Lodge #229.
Burial will follow at American Legion Cemetery, Big Stone Gap, VA.
Pallbearers will be: David Carter, Paul Childress, Randy Delp, Brandon Hill, Bill Snyder and Brandon Hofer.
