Big Stone Gap, Va.-Raymond Lester, 80, passed away on January 26, 2020 at his home.

      He was born January 16, 1940 in Flat Lick, Ky.  He was a retired welder with the Westmoreland Coal Co. and a member of the U. M. W. A. District #17, Local #1607.  He was a member of the Appalachia Pentecostal Church.

      He was preceded in death by his wife, Sharon Lester; and his son, Kevin Lester.

      Surviving are his daughters, Anna Lester, Big Stone Gap and Kim Schill (Kent), Lebanon, Oh.; and grandchildren, Emma “Boo” Raelyn Lester, Casey Barnett, Katie Barnett, Tyler Trimbach, Jasmine Trimbach, Haley Trimbach and Noah Trimbach.

      The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Thursday, January 30, 2020 at Gilliam Funeral Home, 618 Wood Ave., W., Big Stone Gap, Va.   The funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. with Garvey Collins and Grayson Cothran officiating.

      Burial will follow at Powell Valley Memorial Gardens. The family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
