Robert Andrew “Robbie” Phillips, II
Big Stone Gap, Va.-Robert Andrew “Robbie” Phillips, II, passed away early Sunday, Nov. 1, 2020, due to injuries suffered in a motorcycle accident.
He was born in Norton, Va., raised in Big Stone Gap and had most recently lived in the Woodway Community of Lee County. He was a graduate of Powell Valley High School, where he was a member of the chorus. He worked as a respiratory therapist at Holston Valley Medical Center in Kingsport, Tenn. Robbie, “GORO,” was a member of the Iron Order of Virginia “Hillbilly Crew.”
He was preceded in death by his great grandparents, A. R. and Lucy Blevins, and Paul and Lucille Phillips.
Surviving are his mother, Robin Phillips Collins (Tim), Big Stone Gap; maternal grandparents, Robert and Kathie Phillips, Dandridge, TN; fiancé, Megan Conrad, Pennington Gap, Va.; sisters, Hannah Collins and Emily Collins; niece and best friend, Josiah Walker; aunts, Shawna Swiney (Greg), Big Stone Gap and Paula Welch (William), Jonesville, Va.; and cousins, Cera Roberts, Hunter Swiney, Sydnie Cothron and Madison Swiney.
The family will receive friends from 11:00am to 1:00pm Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2020, at Gilliam Funeral Home, 618 Wood Avenue, W., Big Stone Gap, Va. The funeral service will follow at 1:00pm with Greg Townsend, Minister, and Russell Phillips officiating.
Burial will follow at American Legion Cemetery.
The family request that face masks be worn during visitation and the funeral.
