Big Stone Gap, Va.-Robert Lee Davis, 88, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 22, 2023, at his home.
Robert was born October 23, 1934 to Tobe and Jennie (Burke) Davis. He lived a long and full life, having worked many years as a supervisor in coal mining for Fraley’s Inc. and farming. His passion was working on his farm and tending to cattle. Robert was happiest when he was outdoors in the fields on his tractor, cutting hay or teaching his grandsons and great grandsons about farming.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Faye (Barnette) Davis; and brothers, Thomas Davis, Roy Davis, Echol Davis and David Davis.
He is survived by his daughter, Teresa Lynn Clark (Mike), Big Stone Gap; grandsons, Robert Clark (Melinda) and David Clark (Kirasten), both of Big Stone Gap; great grandsons, Wes Clark and Holden Clark; step grandson, Landon Litton (Katie); step great granddaughters, Anniston and Sawyer Litton; brothers, Jack Davis (Karen) and Hagan Davis (Gail); sister, Dora Woods (Grady); several nieces and nephews; and many close friends.
The family will receive friends from 11:00am -1:00pm Wednesday, April 26, 2023, at Gilliam Funeral Home, 618 Wood Ave., W., Big Stone Gap, Va. The service will follow at 1:00pm with Pastor James Holcomb and Pastor Bill Hughes officiating.
Entombment services will follow at Powell Valley Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
Pallbearers will be: Robert Clark, David Clark, Landon Litton, James Davis, Jeff Dickenson and Gary Baker.
