Robin O. Barker

Big Stone Gap, Va.-Robin O. Barker, 53, passed away early Thursday, September 15, 2022, at her home, surrounded by her family.
She was born in Havre De Grace, Md., lived many other places growing up and had been a resident of Big Stone Gap for the past 33 years. She graduated from Dryden High School, Class of 1986. Robin was a RN for both Heritage Hall Healthcare in Big Stone Gap and Ridgecrest Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Duffield, Va. She loved shopping and dining out, but the beach was her passion, especially Ocean City, Md. Her family was her world. She was a Christian.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Bernard E. and Louise L. (Bernheim) Bowers; maternal grandmother, Emma Elise Carter, of whom Robin was especially fond; and mother-in-law, Stella Mae Barker.
Surviving are her husband of 33 years, Matthew “Matt” Barker; son Matthew Barker, of the home; daughter, Bethani Barker, of the home; sisters, Tracy Lynn Monakil and Susan Elise Caldwell; two nephews; and best friend, Tanya Seiber, of whom Robin thought of as a sister.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, Sept. 24, 2022, at Flag Rock Recreational Area, Shelter A, in Norton, Va. with Pastor Roger Barker officiating.
