Roy H. Rogers

Big Stone Gap, Va.-Roy H. Rogers, 66, passed away on Monday, January 23, 2023, at his home, surrounded by his family.
Roy was a lifelong resident of Big Stone Gap. He had most recently worked as a commercial representative for Advance Auto Parts, Gate City, Va. Roy began his career working with his father and brother, Bill at Rogers Gulf in Big Stone Gap, working with the family for 25 years. He played bass and acoustic guitar in numerous area bands, that included many different genres. Roy also played in the house band at the VA/KY Opry in Norton, Va. for five years. He enjoyed running the sound board for Trinity United Methodist Church in Big Stone Gap, during Sunday services and special events, and would join in with his guitar whenever needed.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William E. “Bill” and Margaret (Johnson) Rogers; and a brother, Donnie Rogers.
Surviving are his wife of 33 years, Becky (Davis) Rogers; son, Travis Anthony Rogers, Maryville, Tn.; siblings, Bill Rogers (Donna), Big Stone Gap, Irene Gullion (Larry), Kingsport, Tn., Leonard Rogers, Big Stone Gap, Janice Mohn, Kingsport, Brenda Hall (Gene), Kingsport, Cindy Watkins, Big Stone Gap, and David Rogers (Kathy), Leesville, SC; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Roy’s wishes were for cremation and no services to be held. Please celebrate his life in your own way.
