Norton, VA- Samuel Lee Hawk, 78, passed away on Tuesday, July 28, 2026 at Norton Community Hospital.
Born and raised in Middlesboro, Ky, he lived in Florida for many years, and had resided in Norton for the past 11 years. He was a carpenter by trade, having worked for Hauer and King Construction in Orlando, FL for many years. Sam enjoyed building anything with wood, having built many items for his wife and family over the years. He was an avid NASCAR fan and loved Dale Earnhardt, Sr. He was a Christian.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ernest Arvil Hawk, Sr.; mother Versie Williams Trueblood and brother, and Ernest Arvil Hawk, Jr.
Sam is survived by his wife of 60 years Linda Hawk; children, Michael Kevin Hawk of Norton, VA, Steven Hawk (Carrie) of Orlando, FL, Deana Langston of Ringold, GA, Rhonda Hicks of Coeburn, VA and James Dell Hawk of Raleigh, NC; brothers, Gary Hawk, Roger Hawk and Mike Hawk all of Ohio; 8 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and many special friends. He is also survived by a special friend and caregiver, Wilma Pannel, who assisted the family with loving care for Sam.
