Sheila Ovadia Robinette

Duffield, Va.-Sheila Ovadia Robinette, 75, passed away on Wednesday, September 27, 2023, at Johnson City Medical Center.
Born in War, W.Va., she lived most of her life in the Jasper Community of Lee County, Va. She worked for Buster Brown and also as a caregiver for the elderly. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and adopted grandchildren, attending theatrical productions, church functions and spending time with her family. Sheila was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Big Stone Gap, Va.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Calvin and Nellie (Howard) Herndon; siblings, Roxie Jervis, Shirley Day, Pauline Woosley, and Walter Woosley; and a niece, Melissa Mabe.
Surviving are her husband, Allen J. Robinette; daughters, Kimberly Sowards (Paul), Big Stone Gap, Amy Yeary (Johnny, Jr.,) Vinton, Va., Angela N. Templeton, Big Stone Gap and Michael Robinette (Ronnie), Omaha, Neb.; two grandchildren, Bryan Yeary and Alexis Templeton; sisters, Betty Newsome, Goldsboro, NC, Fran Farris, Greenville, Ill., and Mildred Thacker (Terry), Kingsport, Tn.; several nieces and nephews; and her loving canine, “Lulu.”
The family will receive friends from 3:00pm – 5:00pm Sunday, October 1, 2023, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 3153 2nd Ave E, Big Stone Gap, VA 24219. The service will follow at 5:00pm with Bishop Barry Ison officiating.
A graveside committal service will be held at 11:00am Monday, October 2, 2023, at Powell Valley Memorial Gardens. The family and friends will meet at Gilliam Funeral Home by 10:20am Monday to go in procession to the cemetery.
