Shelia Gail Mullins

Shelia Gail Mullins, 77, of Big Stone Gap, VA passed away peacefully on January 13, 2024 at Holston Valley Medical Center in Kingsport, TN with her loving family by her side.
Shelia was born on July 19, 1946 to parents Charlie C. and Maxie Lea (Bolling) Mullins of Pound, VA.
Shelia enjoyed going to yard sales, socializing at “the Mutual”, Elvis, and talking to family and friends over the phone. She was a very selfless and caring woman, always putting the needs of others before her own. She was of the Baptist faith.
Shelia was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Kenneth, son Kenneth, Jr. (“Dooner”), a special grandmother Martha (“Ma”), whom she spoke of up until her passing, sister Linda, and son-in-law Jimmie.
Shelia is survived by daughter Katrina Bowman of Pound, VA, son Randy Mullins (Sandra Thompson) and daughter Becky Mullins (Frankie South) of Big Stone Gap, VA; grandchildren Jimmie Lee (Gina), Manissa (Shannon), Cristen (Rodney), Audrey, Brittany (Tyler), Shandi (Donald), and Brett; great grandchildren Shasta (Cody), Hunter (Lauren), Shane (Katie), Kali (Logan), Kenneth, Conley, and Liam; great-great grandchild Cooper (whom she called “Little Cooper Boy”); sister Sharon (Bobby); brothers Larry (Viola) and Gary (Teresa); and a host of family and friends.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Lonesome Pine Hospital, Norton Community Hospital, and Holston Valley Medical Center for providing quality care during her stays.
The family would also like to give a very special thanks to her caregiver, Chrissy Thompson, for being there for her. Your care and kindness shown to her was very much appreciated.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM on Wednesday, January 17, 2024, at Gilliam Funeral Home, 618 Wood Ave. E., Big Stone Gap, VA. The service will follow at 6:00 PM with Bishop Michael Meade officiating.
Family and friends will meet by 10:20 AM at Gilliam Funeral Home on Thursday, January 18, 2024, for procession to Powell Valley Memorial Gardens in Big Stone Gap, VA where a graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM.
Family members will serve as pallbearers.
