Shirley Faye Fannon Rosenbaum

Bristol, Va.-Shirley Faye Fannon Rosenbaum, 70, passed away on Monday, March 22, 2021, at Johnson City Medical Center in Johnson City, Tn. She made her journey to her heavenly home the way the way she always loved things to be and that was to be surrounded by people who love her.
Shirley was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, companion and friend. She loved people and they loved her. She was a homemaker, most of her life. She was an avid bowler. She loved to play on her IPad and watch Lifetime movies or the Game Show Network. Her most favorite thing to do was to be with her family sharing love, laughter and maybe a game of Rook or two. Shirley’s best characteristic was her laugh and her smile. The party or event never started, it seemed, until she arrived.
She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Remember, don’t bid high unless you got the bird!!
She was preceded in death by husband, Albert “Rick” Rosenbaum; parents, Doug and Irene Fannon; sisters, Berita Fannon, Virgie Imogene “Tootie” Fannon, Nancy Caroll Humbert; and brother, Harold Douglas “Manzie” Fannon.
Surviving are her daughter, Melissa Dawn (Scott) Morgan, Big Stone Gap, Va.; grandson, Seth Andrew Morgan; companion/fiancé, Eric Hicks; siblings, Richard “Bud” Fannon (Evelyn), Big Stone Gap, William “Allen” Fannon, Exeter, Va., Robert Howard “Shorty” Fannon (Mary), Dryden, Va., Dillard McArthur Fannon (Margaret), Stonega, Va., Billy Daniel Fannon, Roda, Va., Annette “Nina” Morton, Bristol, Tn., Jonell Underwood, Big Stone Gap, and Glynis Geraldine Aistrop, Seminary, Va.; 16 nephews, 13 nieces; 63 great nieces and nephews, and 50 great-great nieces and nephews; a host of friends that were family to her; and one four-legged companion, her dog, “Mia.”
To most of you wondering why someone would need to sit and count to include all these numbers, that’s who Shirley was. She never wanted to be left out or to leave anyone out! That was just who she was.
The family will receive friends from 5:00pm to 7:00pm on Thursday, Mar. 25, 2021, at Gilliam Funeral Home, 618 Wood Ave., W., Big Stone Gap, Va. The funeral service will follow at 7:00pm with Nellie Garrett, Pastor Grayson Cothron and Emil Schenk officiating.
