Duffield, Va.- Teddy Eugene Reist, 65, passed away Monday August 11, 2025 at Holston Valley Medical Center, Kingsport, TN.
He was a lifelong resident of Big Stone Gap, VA and Duffield, VA. He was a former mechanic at Double D Tire in Big Stone Gap, and was a previous employee of the Town of Big Stone Gap and Lee County, where he served as a convenience center operator. He was known as the “Bee Keeper” and his honey was always in high demand. He was a member of and loved the people of Jasper Central Baptist Church in Duffield, VA.
Teddy was preceded in death his parents, John and Maude (Collins) Reist; two infant brothers; father and mother-in-law, Harold and Kate (Rogers) Willis; and brother-in-law, Benny Berry.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Donna Willis Reist; sister, Delores Berry of Church Hill, TN; brother, Guy Reist (Brenda) of Salisbury, NC.; several nieces nephews and friends.
The family will receive friends from 5:00pm – 7:00pm Thursday, August 14, 2025, at Gilliam Funeral Home, 618 Wood Avenue, W., Big Stone Gap, VA and again from 1:00pm – 2:00pm on Friday at Jasper Central Baptist Church in Duffield, VA. The service will follow at 2:00pm with Pastor Wayne Thomas officiating.
A graveside service will follow at Glencoe Cemetery in Big Stone Gap, Va.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
